Impending maniacs
One of the duties I perform on a daily basis is that of uncle to three half-baked maniacs. There is an older one and he has twin brothers. You are being informed of this because this weekend the twins celebrate their sixth birthday and in a state of near panic their very desperate mother called me last night and begged me to make a a cake. When I told their dad this, he said he'd planned to get them one from Lidl. I have, of course, reported him to social services. Disgusting!
I have form in this department as the eldest one has been the recipient of one of my creations since the age of three. In fact, I have posted pictures here like the last one I did, which was a millennium falcon cake. Don't worry if you don't know what that is, to a room full of nine year olds, this was beyond cool.

Because I'm such an amazing uncle, I said yes to my pleading sister. Actually, it's partly because I'm lovely and also due to the sudden flash of inspiration I got while we were talking. Truth be told, my sister is taking the piss a bit because it's a joint party for the twins and a mate of theirs. What this means is that the idea I've had must be extraordinary.
I'm still reeling at the genius of it but I'm going to keep it a surprise until Saturday when it gets unveiled. I had the elder one over for a visit today and because I was being forgetful I didn't take a picture of the lunch I made him but I've got to tell you about it because if you were hanging out with your cool, chef uncle, you'd be pretty happy to be given this.
We had, lamb burger, corn on the cob and potato wedges all cooked on the bbq with salad on the side followed by fresh mango and orange. It can't have been bad because he practically licked the plate clean. Oh, don't tell his mum. He does a very good job of being a fussy eater at home.
