Long may it continue

There has been an unexpected twist to keeping an eye on how many steps I walk on any given day. I've not only found out I wasn't walking anywhere near enough of them but I've also found out how long it takes to walk a sufficient amount and I'm slightly shocked.

This morning I had to go and collect something fro a place that normally would be a bike ride away, (yes, a motorbike). I'd be there and back in fifteen minutes and not think about it. 'I've got time', I thought, 'I'll walk'. An hour and a half later I was home again, mission accomplished. Or so I thought.

A quick look at my step counter told me I had completed seventy percent of my quota. Are you fucking joking? At this rate I'd need at least two hours of walking to do my ten thousand steps and who's got time for that? Of course I'm coming at this the wrong way. I need to find the time to do the exercise or I'll atrophy and that won't be helpful or pretty.

I'm now dreaming up ways to make my walking time more productive. I've no idea how that will magically happen but I do know if I can't do it in summer I've no chance of getting it done in winter. Let's see how long I can maintain this routine.

The picture is of a neighbour's front garden where, while on my stroll, I noticed a huge number of artichoke growing. In my bloody street! I don't know if they're going to get eaten or be allowed to flower but I'll keep and eye on them cos they're absolutely beautiful.
