A long dark tunnel
As you've been reminded from time to time, exercise is necessary. Even just a little bit will do so you don't have to worry if you're not likely to beat Mo Farah any time soon. My regular constitutional takes me in all sorts of directions local to me where I haven't visited as I'm zipping by on a motorbike.
Today's jaunt was west towards the regeneration that has transformed the industrial wasteland just north of Kings Cross station. In days of old the canal serviced the gasworks and warehouses there but more recently it was home to an indoor go kart track and a venue I used to frequent when I needed a dose of drum & bass, jungle and happy hardcore. Oh, those heady days of youth.
Just a few years ago the developers moved in accompanied by vast quantities of cash. It's not on my usual flight path so the only way to explore their efforts is by foot. What I found was a nice trip down memory lane but more interesting for me was the walking along the canal. It's the same canal that runs near my house but I'd not been able to walk to Kings Cross because the towpath ends when the canal enters a tunnel at Islington.
Weirdly, having been a resident of the area for about twenty years, I'd never been to where the canal emerges from its tunnel. Until today. The picture above shows the magic sight that presented itself after years of waiting. In a fit of wanton abandon, pledges have been made to return to this spot and follow the canal further west past Camden, beyond Regents park, through Little Venice and if we're feeling totally reckless, even out to Wormwood Scrubs.
There will be updates with any incredible excursions. In the mean time, use this as a reminder that a little stroll is all you need to keep you ticking over. You don't even have to do it all in one go but before I start telling you how to exercise, I'll excuse myself and stick to food based advice. This week should be an interesting one because of the upcoming event I'm planning for. There will definitely be news of that very soon.
