Not again!

It must be the time of year because suddenly it seems like I'm way out of control. No sooner am I back from one bike trip abroad and I'm off on another. First thing this morning I loaded up Rosie with the bare essentials and headed back to the eurotunnel where I met up with two mates who I used to teach bikes with. This trip is a little different because when we get off the ferry, we're turning right which means we're staying in France.

As you read this we'll be lounging just outside Le Havre and unlike the last trip, this time we're staying in a different place every night. As seems to be the way, the first night we're eating out but I'll be cooking for the rest of the time, so before we left I had to dream up a number of meals that have an interesting limitation as I'll explain. Because on the previous trips, we're staying in one place, I've been able to get in a few days shopping in one go, but not this time.

One of my travelling companions. No, really.
With the exception of bare necessities, like English tea bags, we'll be buying what we need for each meal and nothing more. Let me quickly explain the tea bag thing. For some unknown reason, the tea bags in France are waterproof. The locals are used to it and don't know any better but for anyone who appreciates a proper brew, the continental version just won't do. As a result, we'll be bringing a few to keep us going.

Back to our meals, I'll keep you posted as we go along so there'll be no details now but I'm quite looking forward to seeing how my planning works out. If I'm lucky we'll eat everything we buy so this could be interesting. Needless to say, as well as teabags, I'll also be packing a nice sharp knife. I may be travelling light but I'll not be holidaying without a proper blade. What do you think I am, savage?
