After the storm

Let's start with the obvious well wishes that accompany today's significant date. More importantly than the new slate of 2018 is the end of the onslaught. I am of course referring to the almost relentless battering I inflicted on myself in the form of festive noshing to the extreme.

I'm very grateful that I was so restrained during NOvember but the damage limitation exercise of pre-emptive weight loss has been massively undone so I've decided to get back on it for January. As NOvember was so successful, I know just what to do and if you've been equally wanton with your consumption and want to join, or just want to do it for the hell of it, then welcome aboard. In fact, the more the merrier.

This morning's delicious breakfast.
Also allowed in January.
The plan, in a nutshell, is as follows; plenty of fresh cooked vegetables and lots of fruit, both fresh and dried. There will also be nuts and pulses and though animal flesh will feature, there's not going to be a huge amount of it, nor dairy. The only dairy I will consume will be goat, no cow. Carbs will be almost totally excluded so no bread, rice, pasta, flour, potatoes and refined sugar including agave, maple, date syrup etc.

Sound fun? Good. When I was doing something similar in NOvember I noticed it made me really think about what I was eating and cooking. If you do decide you want to join in and need any help, don't hesitate to get in touch. I realise that this is probably going to make life quite difficult but if you want to give it a go, the least I can do is support you.

Whatever you decide, I'm sure I'll be posting all sorts of recipe ideas that you may just decide to try, even if you're not trying to flagellate yourself for being a shameless gut-bucket, like I have been. Before I apply my culinary chastity belt, I want you to know I haven't regretted one calorie of my seasonal excess. In fact, I've loved every morsel of my Henry the eighth level excesses.
