On the cover of a magazine

Joint first place and a shower of gold stars and brownie points for the two newest rock stars out there. It goes without saying that these are food related accolades and generally speaking, excitement like this is reserved for high achievements in alchemy. Buckle up, sweetheart because these are top class alchemists. First up is Colin and his Thai curry.
Stuck for some simple ideas to keep him fed while studying, Colin popped over for lunch and a demo. We ended up making a real variety of options, one of which was my foolproof Thai curry. As is so often the case, all Colin lacked was a bit of confidence and it certainly seemed like that changed in the time we were together.

The other day I got a very excited text with the above photo. It's all pretty self explanatory really. He watched and listened then gave it a go. Clearly, it was as easy as it had been made to look and the word on the street was that his was delicious too. Top marks!
Next up, the south coast crumble.
Pictured above in glorious before-n-after-o-vision is Barbara's, I want a crumble and can't decide what fruit I fancy flavour dessert. Peach, plums and rhubarb went underneath but it's the topping that won Barbara her place on the top step.

Finding herself short of flour, instead of panicking and clawing out her eyeballs, she simply used her initiative and had a rummage, turning up oats and ground almonds. In the spirit of fearless experimentation, a crumble materialised and got thrown into the oven.

Crumbles have never been famous for winning beauty contests so they have to deliver in the flavour department. Despite not giving much away, I'm told that not only was the finished product delicious but that from now on her crumbles will always be made this way. Therefore, for ingenuity under pressure and fearless initiative taking Barbara earns her place next to Colin on the top step of the podium. Many congratulations to you both.

PS, If you, (or any of your little friends) have been creative or adventurous in the kitchen, I want to hear about it, with pictures please.
