Too good to be true?

Since launching my Revolting balls, I've entered a new arena. In the tough, competitive world of product launches, the key is to get yourself known by as many people as quickly as possible. To that end a press release was created and posted in the various places where press releases get released.

As a result, a few days later a TV station got in touch. Yes, that's right, a television company. An american TV company. And they said we were the sort of startup that they feature. Our product was interesting etc etc and would we free to do an interview so that......

I think it would be fair to say they had us at, 'Hello'. At the pre arranged time my phone rag and the lovely Katie was there as the many confirmation emails said she would be. How exciting! I had figured out that this wasn't going out live, that's not how things are done. I was expecting a little bit of research style chat and then maybe some sort of recording. What a rookie! How naive I had been!

It was a sales pitch. Did I really expect that of all the zillions of companies starting up out there a TV station had singled us out to feature on their show? Well, yes, clearly I had cos I wasn't paying attention. What a Yutz!

But now I was curious. Just what were they selling? Well... They would very kindly work with me to find out more about the product and any information I wanted to include in the transmission. They would film a sixty second 'bulletin' of them chatting in their studio about my amazing Revolting balls to include in their feature about new products to watch out for. They would not only show it on their broadcast but push other networks to feature it too so it might get seen in one hundred million houses! Or was it a hundred zillion?

There were a whole bunch of great benefits to this offer but I had started to drift off. There was one piece of information that I made sure I found out before I cut her loose and that was the price. Before you read on, have a little think about what you think one minute on a glorified shopping channel might cost and then compare it to the mere four thousand dollars they want for their most basic package.
Thanks Katie, I think I'll pass.
