Final touches

There's a good chance that you'll not get a lot of sense out of me as the countdown to my annual European jaunt draws to an end. We don't get loaded onto the Eurotunnel until dawn on Thursday but already things are hotting up and today saw a major bit of excitement.

The weapon I'll be loading for the trip is my bonkers Yamaha 850. This is my second one and I've had her since the end of last year. Unlike my first one which had a number of mods done by me, this one had been fiddled with by someone else and he was a lot lardier than I. He had spent a lot of money getting the suspension sorted for him but it was pants for me, and the more I rode it, the more I knew it.
Meaner than ever.
A chance meeting with a helpful specialist meant that a solution was in sight. With just days to go, I set off to his workshop with firmly crossed fingers. Would he sort me out? One look at the workshop put any doubts to rest, I was welcomed and they got straight to work. First job, get the customer to stand on the scales.

It turned out that the Banting diet I've been doing has had a remarkable effect. Instead of switching the spring on my shock to the slightly softer, standard one, he recommended we go for an even softer one to match my dainty figure. An hour later they had switched the spring and adjusted the forks and I was ready to go.

Without exploding all over my keyboard with excitement and hyperbole, let me simply say that it is utterly stupendous and totally transformed. The ride home was one long uninterrupted grin fest and, if it's possible, I'm even more excited than ever before. Thanks for hanging in there as that probably sounded like a pile of gibberish.
