More human than human

To look at him there's nothing out of the ordinary but the evidence suggests something special is going on. The evidence in this case is his children and before you suggest the mother may have had some input, there's more than one mother. So he is definitely the source of, well I'm not sure exactly what.

To give you an idea of what I'm on about, I found out just yesterday that his eldest, who not only graduated from Cambridge, has just finished a masters. Still not impressed? He's about to start a PhD. In bloody neuroscience! On top of which, he's a lovely guy. And very cool. However, he's not the amazing one.
What were you doing aged ten?
Above is the neuroscientist's birthday cake. It is the creation of his ten year old half sister. She is the amazing one. It started a while ago with her dad attempting, quite commendably I might add, to bake the odd cake when a birthday came around. Each attempt was accompanied by many texts and calls and followed up with a photo of the errrm, attempt. I can't fault his enthusiasm.

Though she showed interest in baking with her dad, pretty soon she out shone him and cut him loose. These days she can be found knocking up creations of her own without any parental interference. The above cake came about because after making a batch of brownies, she had some cocoa powder left over.

Instead of putting it back in the cupboard like the rest of us would have done, she decided to knock up a cake for her brother. This means that she is not only a confident cook but has a great deal of initiative and creativity. Fortunately for her, there is no one else to share the limelight with so she gets the top step of the podium all to herself, along with lots of brownie points. Congratulations, Jazz. Keep sending the pictures.
