Start of the weekend

It has been an amazing and very action packed weekend full of all the elements I predicted. Remember the list of activities that I... Actually, I'll just cut to the chase. I got cracking early by getting my BBQ fired up on Friday evening.

What better way to start the weekend than with a burger? Something that all too often gets overlooked or taken for granted is the bun. I've often enjoyed a brioche bun and it then occurred to me that as I've been using a sliced brioche loaf, I could use that for the burger. How would it work?
The ingredients (left) and the finished item (right).
As you can see above, I gave it a go and I've got to tell you that my search for the perfect burger bun has officially come to an end. If you're inclined towards the occasional homemade burger, go buy a sliced brioche loaf, toast it very lightly (as they burn quickly) and experience the bliss. Other components that made it between the two slices were crispy bacon, creamy blue cheese, tomato, lettuce and a sauce of mayonnaise flavoured with garlic, lemon and chilli.

It was as phenomenal and flavour packed as you'd imagine, as well as being very filling. In fact, it was so filling that we had to take a break before we tucked in to dessert. As I know you're curious, here's a picture. It's a summer pudding (What, again? -Ed.) with a victoria sponge built in.
Cake above, summer pudding below. Scrummy!
Another thing that has occurred to me is how much happened this weekend that I wanted to tell you about, so I'm going to spread this story out over a few days. Come back tomorrow for the next instalment but before you go, make a note to go and get a brioche loaf and experience toasted sandwiches like never before.
